Crow's Fall is a digital re-rendering of a large acrylic painting I completed at the end of 2008. The original painting was based on charcoal sketches of crows that hung around outside my window. The painting focused on the trickster nature of the crow, and a recent experience drew me back to revisit this piece.

The Crow is often represented as playing the role of Trickster in myth and folklore. The Trickster is a challenging figure, for it teaches us valuable lessons, but often at a cost. My recent experience taught me to be wary of another person's words, for sometimes people speak with the Trickster's tongue. Someone may say one thing in clear words, but really mean the opposite, or even deny having said it at all.

There is often no way to win against the Trickster. The best option is to give thanks for the lesson and be more mindful in the future. The one caveat is that the Trickster almost always leads itself to its own destruction. Thus the title of this pi...
